%X The indiscriminate use of natural resources and excessive release of waste and pollutants in the environment in recent decades have contributed to the worsening of the environmental impacts and its consequences. In this context, Conservation Units have become key instruments for the preservation and regulation of environmental resources. This research analyzed and characterized the environmental physical fragility of the area 1 of the National Forest of Brasilia (FLONA 1), Sustainable Use Conservation Unit, located in the administrative regions of Taguatinga and Brazlândia, Federal District. For the development of the research, Ross (1994) methodology was used. Physical factors analyzed were: declivity, soil type and vegetation cover. The processing of these data in a geoprocessing environment provided the compilation of thematic maps of environmental fragility. Four classes of environmental fragility in the study area were identified: very low, low, medium and high. The very low class was predominant and represented approximately 80% of the area. The high fragility class corresponded to less than 1%, and was considered insignificant. The mapping and analysis of environmental fragility provide important information to understand and monitor natural physical conditions in different forms of environmental human intervention, and is an important contribution to the management plan of the unit.
